Last Guardians
of Linge

At the corridor of the Leuser ecosystem lies the ancient Kingdom of Linge. It is the largest remaining swath of intact rainforest in Sumatra and the only place on earth where critically endangered tigers, orangutans, and rhinos can be found in one habitat. A recent bill has been adopted by the Indonesian government to mine for gold in this area. Namtara is leading his community to stop this tragedy from happening.

Last Guardians of Linge draws the viewer into the lush, mystical Leuser ecosystem, where Namtara, a young Gayo leader, walks through the rainforest of his childhood, encountering orangutans and gibbons as their songs blend with the forest's rhythms. This tranquility is shattered by the news of a mining concession threatening their ancestral land. As Namtara fights to unite his community against exploitation, tensions rise, traditions are tested, and a court battle ensues. With breathtaking visuals and emotional depth, the story follows his courageous quest to honor his ancestors and protect their legacy.
